They will clean the delicate components and they can assess the damage quickly and accurately for you. But let’s assume you’re not ready to give up on the notion of needing to go to cell phone repair store.

I’m going to start by painting a picture for you. You’re in the shower, enjoying the nice warm water down your back, and then you realize that you are standing in that water. You drain has stopped doing just what the name implies – DRAINING! Everyone knows the reason for this, but nobody relishes the thought of doing what is necessary. I know I certainly don’t enjoy freeing my drain of gross wet, gunked-up hair that is the reason for my unasked for foot bath. It is down right disgusting, but it happens to everyone –well every one with hair!

There is this a wonderful tool that grabs that hair out of the drain for you. The Turbo Snake is easy to use – just twist it into the drain give a twist and pull out the hair and “gunk” without even needing to take the drain stopper out. If you have been standing in a pool of water in your showers for some time now, you may need to do the process a couple of times.

Beware when buying or selling a used car

Most states require any vehicle that has been totaled and rebuilt to be tagged as either "Salvaged" or "Rebuilt". This is a way to be aware when dealing with water damage to a car. That would be painful if it was not disclosed and you found out about it after.  This is just outrageous and now consider this about water car damage being hidden when a car is sold. You should insure yourself against that: I think some car marketers should read this. That’s putting it mildly. I would imagine that I may not be too popular for saying this.

It can be really devastating when it happens to you.  The thought of your valuable paper, be it important documents, irreplaceable personal letters or treasured books being destroyed forever by water damage. But with care and the proper technique these items may be salvageable from that flood or spill after all.

Turning the item upside down every couple of hours will help the water damaged book restoration process dry out evenly.  If the documents are important, the best way to preserve their contents may be to photocopy them then discard the originals.

Rare book water damage is more likely to be a concern of libraries and some museums as these organizations are home to the most valuable, important pieces of literary history. However, many collectors also have rare books that they need to protect from water damage.  When disaster does strike, it is the discretion of the homeowner to salvage or replace the damaged items. What happens if I have an emergency and I have to remove water quickly?  This is a question we get asked a lot; let’s move on to the response.

Suppose you happened to neglect a running tap for too long or your house got flooded, and then next thing you know, your carpet is soaked in water several feet deep. In contacting a water damage restoration or water damage extraction company, make sure that they have a full service like carpet and wood floor restoration, air vent cleaning and upholstery cleaning.  Other damages may begin show on a later time after the water damage restoration team has packed up and finished their work.

If a large amount of water has spilt do not even consider doing it yourself.

The National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) defines flood to be a general and temporary condition of partial or complete inundation of two or more acres of normally dry land area, or of two or more properties (at least one of which is the policyholder’s property) from: Overflow of inland or tidal waters; Unusual and rapid accumulation or runoff of surface waters from any source; Mudflow; or Collapse or subsidence of land along the shore of a lake or similar body of water as a result of erosion or undermining, caused by waves or currents of water exceeding anticipated cyclical levels.

This is one of the biggest problems I am asked about:  what to do if you spill water on your computer.   As tempting as it may be, do not use a hair dryer to try and dry it as this will cause more damage by melting some components on the motherboard and possibly causing a short circuit. You should always go for a reliable and experienced company to achieve the best chances of a successful recovery.  Did you know that almost any amount of moisture can cause damage to electronics?

Many people use their laptops on a daily basis.  The range of users extends from office workers to stay at home parents to students to anyone else that values the easy handling of a laptop.  A mom with hectic days can move from one room to the next, while students can use them at school and transport them from class to class or even the cafeteria and library.  Regardless of where you need to end up they can make the trip with you and as wireless Internet hotspots are becoming more common the increased use of laptop will become more wide spread.

Because of all the flexibility and mobility that a laptop provides there are increased risks that are not as prevalent with desktop computers.  Similar to cellular phones there is increased risk of loss, theft and physical damage from dropping or water spills.  These types of concerns are not usually covered under a regular warranty.  Damage from liquid spills on the laptop seem to be especially common.
